Nestled in the heart of St Kilda, Dunedin, Bunny Burrows Montessori offers a nurturing and thoughtfully prepared early childhood environment that embraces the Montessori philosophy and celebrates the richness of New Zealand’s bicultural heritage.

At Bunny Burrows, we believe that every child is naturally curious, capable, and eager to learn. Our approach is grounded in child-led exploration, where tamariki are supported to follow their own interests at their own pace, guided by our team of qualified and passionate Montessori educators.

We place a strong emphasis on fostering independence, respect, and a lifelong love of learning. Our peaceful, purposefully designed spaces – both indoors and out – inspire self-directed play, hands-on discovery, and meaningful connections with the natural world.

Rooted in Te Whāriki, Aotearoa New Zealand’s Early Childhood Curriculum, our programme reflects a holistic view of learning. We integrate Montessori principles with the cultural values, identity, and language of our local community, ensuring a rich, inclusive experience for all tamariki and their whānau.

Our mixed-age classrooms promote a strong sense of community and collaboration, where older children learn leadership and empathy, and younger ones benefit from peer learning and support. Regular whānau events, celebrations, and outdoor adventures strengthen the bonds between home and centre, cultivating a warm, welcoming environment where everyone belongs.

At Bunny Burrows Montessori, we’re more than a childcare centre –we’re a community where children grow in confidence, creativity, and care for themselves, others, and the world around them.

At Bunny Burrows Montessori, we blend the Montessori method with the principles of Te Whāriki to nurture confident, curious, and capable learners.

We empower children (Whakamana) through self-directed, hands-on learning in a carefully prepared environment that fosters independence, creativity, and joy. Our holistic approach (Kotahitanga) supports growth across all areas – intellectual, emotional, social, and physical – recognising the unique journey of each child.

Strong relationships (Ngā Hononga) and a peaceful, respectful community are central to our practice. We value whānau involvement (Whānau Tangata) and embrace the diverse cultures children bring, working in partnership with families, and our wider community to support a foundation for lifelong learning.
